Hey, kids, remember Skeletons on a bus? I thought I'd feature the "Camp Fear" story, the cover for which is featured on that page, because, while it doesn't actually involve skeletons driving a bus (or indeed, any skeletons at all), it IS pretty dumb.

No skeletons, but pretty creepy. "Why, of course you don't allow us any contact with our child! That makes perfect sense. Be sure to take him real deep into those woods, now!"

Why do I get the feeling the person who wrote this has a number of childhood issues he was working through?

So, they figured they'd "cure" him of his "wild imagination" by letting him stay with child molestors for the summer?
Yes, definitely working through some issues.

Oh, come on. Stop whining. It's better than doing arts and crafts.

No, but seriously. Burning a man's eyeball in effigy isn't nearly as creepy as these camp counselors lurking outside the kids' window giving the "OK" sign.
Issues!

Well, at least he's cured of his daydreaming.

Killing baby birdies and tripping cripples is one thing, but OOOOOOHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT THE STAMP ALBUM!!! Seriously, you're doing your buddy a favour, here.

That'll show him. Stupid stamp collector.

I knew it. Stamp collectors = Satanists.

Yes, every trail leads to steep barriers... except for that one completely flat road he drove in with his parents on. Too bad he didn't take that instead. I guess worshipping Satan makes you stupid.

HEY HE'S GONNA KILL US ALL!! WHAT AN AWESOME GUY, LET'S MAKE HIM OUR LEADER!!

"I don't understand how they could've burned it down! I was SURE I killed them with that avalanche!"
What really gets me about this story... okay. He drags his parents back to this camp, and they find the nice, new fake camp in front completely abandoned, and some freshly-burnt cabins in the woods. No counselors, no other campers. THE CAMP IS ABANDONED. And their reaction is to believe their son imagined the whole thing... at a camp THEY TOOK HIM TO THAT IS NOW COMPLETELY ABANDONED. I... I just... are these parents idiots? Or was the writer too busy working through his weird childhood abandonment issues to come up with a story that made sense?
Oh, what am I saying. This is a DC Comic from the '70s. Logic was something that happened to other people. THEY HAD DEADLINES, OKAY??
